Is it possible to disable access to the Time (loacated bottom right of
screen).

I have a user who is changing the Time on a PC that effects an
application. Is it somehow possible that I can successfully disable the
time from being interferred with.

Any help would be great

Right Click on the taskbar and click properties > In the taskbar tab
uncheckmark show the clock. Then the user should not be savvy enough to find
the clock. Good Luck.

Thanks Joe for the suggestion. I think that just might be too easy for
them to crack

Open the Local Security Settings in Control Panel -> Administrative
Tools. Browse to User Rights Assignment and look for "Change the system
time". Set the policy there.

Thanks Jon, that seems pretty easy.

Its just a standard PC so the User is the Administrator, but I guess if
I couldn't work out how to disable it, they won't be able to work out
how to 'Re-enable' it

Thanks

I just tried it on my PC and removed the Administrator from the Group
that can change Date and Time, clicked Apply, then went to change the
Time and I could - do I have to re-boo?. The only user group that was
left was "Power User"

If the user is an administrator he can change the policy back to its
original setting. It's not really a good idea to have people using the
computer with administrator status. There are many risks in this that I
won't get into. Why do they have to have administrator status?

Thanks Jon. It worked on Re-boot. Yes the user is an adminsitrator. Its
just a standard application PC, there was no issues except when I
spotted this problem.

If I remove "administrator" from those Groups than can change the
system time, does that mean when Daylight Saving Time kicks in the PC
will not automatically update?

Thanks

I suppose you would have to be logged in as a power user for DST to
take effect. Don't really know. I'm not sure what you mean by "standard
application PC" but users with admin rights can tinker with the system
settings and inadvertently render the system unusable. They can install
malicious software. As you are connected to the internet you are
vulnerable to outside attacks and the intruders will also have admin
privileges.

For most purposes it's not necessary to have admin rights. Most
everything you need to do can be carried out with a limited user
account. Consider having one administrator account and allowing only
administrators to change the system time.

Hi Sean,

Restrict Users from Changing the Time: For Pro

a. Start/Run/gpedit.msc
b. Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security
Settings/Local Polices/User Rights Assignment".
c. Highlight User Rights Assignment
d. On the right pane, double click Change system time
e. Remove the account you want.
