The RFT/DCA file converter is no longer available for download from the
Microsoft website, nor is it included on the CD of recent versions of Word or
Office. But you can download the file from Word MVP Graham Mayor's website http://www.gmayor.com/downloads.htm (scroll down to the "File converter
downloads" section).
Thank you for your response, but I need to clarify something in your
response.
Is the download you refer to a converter from a text format to Word, or a
converter for DisplayWrite to Word. I no longer have DisplayWrite program to
Save As a RFT/DCA file. I need to convert the DisplayWrite file directly to
Word or some other means.
It is a converter that you install into Word, so that you can
open a DisplayWrite file using the File->Open dialog box in Word.
RFT/DCA is the native format of DisplayWrite files, so you
don't need the DisplayWrite program to "save as".
Thanks. I have done that - copied the files into the correct folder. I
re-started my PC and when I open Word it doesn't give me the option to pick
from "files of type". Any suggestions. I am using Microsoft Word 2002.
The converter finally showed up in the "files of type" but it is looking for
a file with an ".rft" extension. You may or may not remember, but in
DisplayWrite you could name the filename extension to anything. I tried
renaming the file with an ".rft" extension, but the conversion looked like
garbage.
I appreciate your help, but do you have any further suggestions?
Hello? Did you have any suggestions with respect to my last question?
