Hi All

Using FP 2000 and I wish to capture the url of the site that referred, and
have this value submitted along with the rest of the form results.

The site at present does not use any ASP and all pages are htm

I tried to follow a previous thread (on the 8/12/2003 where Chris Leeds was
after doing something similar - I think??)

So if a person clicks thru from the referring site and is presented with the
index page of a site and then susequently wishes to make an application and
therefore clicks the link to display the form, is the value in http_referrer
chnaged in any way? or does the value persist between pages within the site
because it holds only the external (to the site) referring url?

I am new to this and trying to learn ASP and would appreciate any help and
advice on the simplest solution.

Thanks in advance

Ed

Edwin,

When a user come to your site from a search engine or another web site the
referral value would only be available on the first page of your site that
they access, and you have to capture it at that point via a script, then
store it via cookie, or server side script, if you want to use it. Now if
the user is running a default install of Norton Anti-Virus or Personal
Firewall, then the referral value is empty.

It is no longer a good idea to rely on the referral value. See the link that
Jon posted.
