Hotmail Add-In for Windows Messenger 5.0?

I have recently upgraded to Windows Messenger 5.0 but
have lost my ability to see my Hotmail email status. I
have tried to download the add-in but am told that I "do
not have the latest version of messenger".

Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Do I need to
downgrade back to Windows Messenger 4.7?

Windows Messenger 5 doesn't support the Hotmail add-in.

You either need to use Windows Messenger 4.7 or MSN 6

This is a deliberate decision by Microsoft.

Windows Messenger is going to be targetted more at companies in future, with
MSN 6 etc for consumers
