Windows Mail won't work with Hotmail:

(926374) You cannot configure Windows Mail
to use a Web-based e-mail account in Windows
Vista

Windows Live Mail might be worth a try:

Hello, I feel your pain.
Like you I just received a new computer with Vista and tried to set up
Outlook Express (now called Windows Mail) to receive the hotmail I have been
using for the last 6 years. What a shock to find Vista won't support it. Now
wouldn't you think hotmail received through MSN would work with any Microsoft
program, especially Vista which they are forcing down our throats?
Here's what may help you at least for your hotmail Contacts. You can go
into your hotmail online and under options it will let you save contacts to a
folder. Best to put in "my documents" to find easily. Then go into your
Windows Vista Mail, click 'file' and 'import,' It will ask to browse for a
folder. Select the folder you just saved in 'my documents' and it will import
all your contacts.
If you can get your Vista Windows Mail working with your current
provider (probably have to set up new e-mail address/account) you can forward
your Hotmail to your new address. Just go into your hotmail online, click
'Options' like above, and select forwarding e-mail. Type in your new address
and hotmail will get forwarded to your new e-mail address. MSN will send
your new address one e-mail asking if OK to accept forwarded e-mails. Reply
Yes and you're set.

Now....does anyone know how to import saved e-mails and folders from MSN
Hotmail into Vista?

There are several categories of Hotmail/MSN mail accounts.
Most people have just a free account which (for the most part) has
web access only. Hotmail Plus accounts have POP access.
Those can be made to work in Windows Mail.
I don't know what the current status of MSN Premium users is.
You did not specify which kind of account you have.

yes ok im working on a progress right now
