Hotfix 811114 not applying

Hello everyone,
I am just wondering if anyone else is having the same
problem I am having. I download and apply the hotfix
decribed in Q811114. Reboot the machine and run windows
update again and Windows says I need to apply the patch.
I have done this with and without rebooting the machine.
I have stopped trying to install this patch. I also
thought maybe it was just my desktop machine problem,
however, it also happens on my brand new Dell laptop. Any
ideas? All will be welcome. Thank you in advance for your
help and advice.

This is a great question to post to
windows.public.windowsupdate
as they once believed they had cured these
detect/install loops.
 
I would greatly like to find an easy way to get to this
group. It is not an easy group to find. Using the search
option is not helping.

Hi Scott,

The headers in your post indicate you may be using the
web interface. I do not know how or if that newsgroup
is accessible that way.

What you can do is start Outlook Express, and then in
the Tools / Accounts dropmenu use the Accounts selection
to define a news account for msnews.microsoft.com server.
Once this is done you will be able to select from any of the
newsgroups, including the one mentioned for windows update.
