I am trying to access my hosts files in windows\system32
\drivers\etc. When I open in Notepad or Wordpad as was
suggested, all I get is a sample file. I need to get into
the actual file because I am unable to access a
particular site-Myfamily.com at 66.43.25.130

How do I get into the actual file?

The 'actual file' as you call it is named HOSTS - no extension, nothing but
HOSTS. Go find it.

Just copy this link in your Windows Explorer address bar and press
enter:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

When you get a dialog box, you need to select: "SELECT A PROGRAM FROM A
LIST".

Press OK and now select NOTEPAD.

If you haven't done anything to the HOSTS file then there will not be
anything in it. Don't forget HOSTS file is not specifically to block
websites but its main purpose is to accelerate web browsing! Not many
people seem to know about this so unless I get questions on this I will
stop here.
