horiz. rule cannot be removed

When I add a horiz. line, by letting the hyphen key repeat
partway across the page, Work converts this to a solid
horizontal line. The line is not a graphic opject (can't
be manipulated with the Draw tools). Showing hidden
characters reveals nothing about the line. The line
cannot be removed or relocated and has strange behaviors.
Don't wish to analyze or describe these -- I just want the
LINE to GO AWAY. And I'd love to diable this feature
completely.

Thanks
Scott

To remove this line:

Click on the line, click the "Format" menu, select "Borders and shading",
click the "None" box on the "Borders" TAB. Click "OK".

To stop this from happening again:

Click the "Tools" menu, select "Autocorrect options...", click the
"Autoformat as you type" TAB and uncheck the option associated with "Border
lines".
