My cable modem outputs an ethernet cable which I have to
connect to a ethernet-to-USB adapter to connect to the USB
port on my laptop. I can get on fine this way, but there
must be a way to just plug the ethernet cable into the
laptop and get it to go online. I cannot figure out how
to get my laptop to recognize this connection, and it does
not pop up with a plug-and-play option. I am running
WinXp Home on a Toshiba laptop, Pent 4 and WinXp Home on a
Compaq laptop Pent 3. BTW, my Playstation 2 uses the
direct ethernet hookup with no problem.
Does someone have simple instructions or a guide that a
novice can follow to allow me to make a wired ethernet
connection from my cable modem to my laptops? Thanks.
