Hello , I haven't tried XP Pro , but am interested . One fact is , you can
encrypt folders .. i.e. Needing a password you create to open the folder .

That is not encryption.
You are not even describing a feature of Windows XP Pro.
I suggest if you do get Windows XP Pro and decide to use EFS, you study
thoroughly.
Improperly using EFS routinely causes permanent loss of data giving it the
nickname "Delayed Recycle Bin"

What I would recomend, if you ever plan on having your computer a domain, you
have to get Win XP Pro, because XP Home doesn't support domains. If you are
just having a plain ordanairy computer, not on a domain, get xp home. Another
big difference is XP Pro cost $199 for upgrade and $299 for full. Home cost
$99 for upgrade and $199 for full. Anymore questions just ask!!

In Installer had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

Skip the above and listen to Jupiter... EFS is potentially a wonderful thing
but read up on best practices and export your keys! I add this to make sure
that you know from multiple sources to skip the above response to you. XP
Pro does let you encrypt folders but, wow, a heck of a lot more than a
password is needed to open them so do yourself a favor and if you DO go that
route do NOT think password, do NOT think account, but think certificate and
backup, backup, backup!

Can someone tell me what the major difference is between xp home and
xp pro?

XP Professional and XP Home are exactly the same in all respects, except
that Professional has a few features (mostly related to networking and
security) missing from Home. For most (but not all) home users, even those
with a home network, these features aren't needed, would never be used, and
buying Professional instead of Home is a waste of money.

For details go to
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_home_pro.asp

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/whichxp.asp

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/howtobuy/choosing2.asp

Also note one other point not mentioned on any of those sites: Professional
allows ten concurrent network connections, and Home only five.

Hello and Thank You for correcting my "fact" reply . I will always remember
this one . Thank You Jupiter Jones , Galen , Bob I .. thank you much .
