Is it possible to install WinXp Home over WinXp Pro

Thanks in advance.........Bob Vance

Boot straight to the XP Home CD..... (put it in the optical drive and
restart the PC.... you will see the option to boot from CD)

Choose to format the hard drive.... REMEMBER this will delete ALL your files
and folders, if you wish to keep some of them, back them up to another media
first like a DVD or CD disk.

Then follow the on screen instructions.

No. Downgrades are never supported.

Why do you want to do this? Are you aware that Home is a subset of
Professional? There are things in Professional that are not in Home, but the
opposite isn't true, and there's no possible benefit of having Home instead
of Professional.

But if you want Home, you'll have to back up your data, do a clean
installation, then restore your data and reinstall all your apps.

Boot from the Windows XP CD (change the BIOS boot order if necessary to
accomplish this) and follow the prompts for a clean installation (delete the
existing partition by pressing "D" when prompted, then create a new one).

You can find detailed instructions here:

I went to that website and saw pointers to "a lot of folders that I could delete" , so I checked my PC.
I bought XP with SP1 on CD then downloaded the updates. I didn't have most of the folders mentioned on micael stevens website, but
in C:\Windows I DO have a hidden folder called $hf_mig$ - full of KBs starting with KB873339 up to KB913446. 140 mb 612 files
139 folders - OK to delete that ?

I saw your other post but just to be sure you understand, don't delete
it. It's needed for future updates.
