I'm attempting to upgrade my factory version of XP Home to
a new copy of XP Pro. The initial stages of the
installation go well, but after restarting and beginning
the actual installation, it hits a blue screen, dumps the
physical memory, and forces me to restart.

STOP: 0x0000007E (0x0000005, 0x805b1db0, 0xf7bb8bb8,
0xf7bb88b8)

Anyone know anything that would help?

When you say "factory version" are you referring to a pre-installed
version of Home? If that's true, a retail version of Pro upgrade may
not be suitable for your PC. Contact the maker of your PC to find
out if it's possible to upgrade with a retail version.

Many XP pre-installed machines are proprietary and may require special
drivers for various components before they will work properly.
