I am trying to setup a small office network. My desktop
has Windows XP and my laptop has Windows 2000. Following
the wizard, I create a network diskette but the
netsetup.exe that is created cannot be run on Windows
2000. I know I did this before (reason for having to
create that again, my laptop harddrive crashed, therefore
a replacement) but cannot seem to find a way to do it.

Can anyone out there tell me how to setup the network
with mixed operating systems (Windows XP and Windows
2000?)

Thanks in advance,

Norma

Actually, if all you're doing is file and printer sharing, you don't need
the disk at all. Just make sure each machine has a different machine name
and both share the same workgroup name. Since you don't mention what you're
using to network them (switch, router, or ???) I don't know whether or not
to advise you on setting IP addresses.

I am using a Linksys Router.

If the PCs are getting their addresses from the router, then you should be
all set with the prior advice.
