I bought a new Dell desktop, running Win XP home edition.
It is connected to Internet via a 56K dial-up modem, and
it works fine.
I decided to use my old desktop, running Win 98SE, to
form a network with the Dell, so I could share files, and
access Internet from this computer as well.
I installed a new network card in my old computer
(installation successful), hooked both machines with a
crossover Cat5 cable, and ran the setup first on the Dell
Win XP, and then ran the "netsetup.exe" floppy on the old
computer, as instructed by the wizard.
Everything works fine except that I can't go on Internet
from the old computer. I can share files (both ways),
share the printer connected on the new computer (USB
port), but I can't reach my dial-up connection from the
old one. Something must be missing???

Who is your internet service provider. Alot of the isp's
are not allowing you to use internet connection sharring
thru dial up anymore.

If you can afford and get high speed in your area i would
highly recommend that.

.
Did you enable internet connection sharing on the XPh
machine?

machine?
.
Yes the connection sharing was enabled on the XP
machine. I re-entered many settings on the XP machine,
following the help instructions, and re-ran
the "netsetup.exe" on the Win98 machine, and now it works
OK. Frankly I don't know exactly what was the problem.
Thanks anyway
Michel
