I use a NETGEAR wired router at home with Win xp, is there
a built in Firewall in router's? Thank you

Most routers have built in firewall cababilities. What model do you have and
why not just look at the netgear website and find out for yourself????

Thank you. I will look at the web site, I thought the
purpose was to also ask questions in this forum as others
may have the same question, excuse me for thinking that way.

No its so people can post questions and receive valid answers then complain
about the good advice they have just received and the way in which it was
given!!

David,

NAT routers provide a limited amount of protection against hostile traffic,
similar to filtering of incoming packets by a firewall. But NAT routers are not
firewalls. Some NAT routers do have SPI, which is one firewall function.

Does your router have SPI? What model is it?
