I have [Old PC (WinME)] -> [switch] -> [New PC (WinXP] -> [DSL - internet]

From [Old PC] I can ping [New PC] but Net View shows only [Old PC] in in th MSHOME workgroup.
From [New PC] I can ping [Old PC] and Net View shows both [New PC] and [Old PC]

From [New PC] I can open files etc. from [Old PC] without problems.

All netprotocols and clients are in place - and I have tried to delete and reinstall. I have changed the computernames on both PC's.

On [New PC] (where I have the DSL connection - and therefore 2 netcards) I have installed Zone Alarm (firewall) and if I want to connect to the internet form [Old PC] I have to shut down Zone Alarm.

All in all I could live with it - if only my kids didn't want to play games on our local network :-))

What to do to have "happy kids" again? :-))

Make sure that the workgroup name on both PC's are the same and the IP
addresses and subnet masks are correct. Sounds like name resolution is the
problem because they can ping each other. If you have XP Pro you can use
DHCP.

DHCP has nothing to do with this. It's already installed and working as
part of your ICS.

The firewall is probably the problem. Temporary turn it off until you get
the connectivity you want. Make XPs firewall is off as well.

Only Zone Alarm Pro (paid version) supports ICS

I found that you must have identical userids and passwords on both the
ME and XP boxes in order to ME to talk to XP.
