I have a bit of a problem setting up the Network on my new Dell 8300 so I
can share drives, folders & printers with my laptop. When I first got the
8300, I had the network setup on my old desktop computer with the option
that it connected directly to the Internet. I setup the network on my new
8300 to connect through another computer.

Now I've taken out the old computer and replaced it with the 8300 and need
to change the 8300 to indicate that it connects directly to the Internet.

I tried using Network Setup Wizard to change from connecting through
another computer to connecting directly, but received the following error:

------------------------------------------------------
Cannot complete Network Setup Wizard

Other computers cannot connect to the Internet through this computer

In addition to its Internet connection, this computer must have a
connection to your network
------------------------------------------------------

What do I need to remove/uninstall in the Network Connection and reinstall
to make the switch and have the new 8300 as the host computer.

Thand for any pointers
Charlie.

GO into the hardware setup and delete the NIC configurations ...

reboot and the XP will find the NIC cards and reconfigure ...

NOw run network setup wizard ...

VC,
Thanks for the reply. Let me make sure I have this correct before I start.
In reference to the NIC card, are you referring to the adapter in Device
Manager: (as follows)
Device Manager/Network Adapters/Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection

Also, would I have to uninstall anything that's in the current Network
Connection in Control Panel?
Thanks again.
