Anyone got any recommendations?

So far Quicken is out of the running as that is no longer supported in the
UK since Quicken 2004 and even though we use it now (XP)it is not Vista
compatible.

Money 2005 is the latest UK version available and again I think that is not
Vista compatible.

So it looks like very shortly we'll be going through the agony of using a
manual spreadsheet again, unless anyone has any suggestions?

HELP!

I wouldn't be running any financial applications on a beta O/S yet.
There is also the issue that many institutions will not talk to beta
browsers.

I'm glad I didn't know that Quicken 2004 is not compatible with Vista.
Because in my ignorance I went ahead and installed Quicken 2004 Deluxe and
it works fine. That includes online banking and bill payment.

Of course, your mileage may vary in the UK. I'm in the US and Quicken
communicates with US financial institutions.

Oh I know that :) Vistas launch is not that far off though and I don't want
to keep XP around just for Quicken. The points raised will still be valid
next year as I do not see MS having a UK Money app out by then.

Vista 64 bit or 32 bit?

I'd guess that one or the other will run x86 programs as robustly as XP
Home or XP pro anyway?

Now that is interesting. It actually installed fine but then when I tried
to run it I got a complaint that a DLL was missing..... You had no issues
at all?

Well, I did have one minor issue with transaction download for my American
Express credit card account. I'm still looking into that. Transaction
download for all my other accounts works fine. Online bill payment through
my bank works without a problem. So do all the other functions such as
report generation, etc. that I've used so far.

And it's really not that much of a surprise. Quicken is just a Windows
application written to the Win32 API that uses the internet to communicate
with financial institutions. I would expect most well written Windows
applications to work under Vista, unless they require an associated
hardware driver.

BTW I did a clean install of Vista Beta 2 to a completely separate test
system. Quicken 2004 Deluxe was installed, followed by all Quicken 2004
patches up to R5. Then I restored my Quicken file from a USB flash drive
and opened it from the newly installed Quicken 2004.

Vista 32 bit.

Exactly, I expect Vista 32 bit will run x86 programs just as robustly as
XP. I'm posting this using the Gravity Newsreader program which I bought
as shareware in 1999. It works as good as it always has under Vista Beta
2.

BTW You can get it for free now. One of the best NNTP newsreaders ever
written, IMO. Just Google for it.

What happens if you try registering the dll's with regsvr32?

I managed to get round it in the end tonight :) I ended up copying the
install disk on to the HD, reset all the permissions and voila - one happy
man who now should be 99% Vista!

I did a search and found the MFC70.DLL file in the installation folder for
Norton System Works. Apparently it is a fairly standard file, so should
appear in other places. I copied it into the quicken program folder and
voila! it works. First time started, after I selected "..existing user..."
,it seemed to freeze for a while and I was about to kill it through task
manager. But then it woke up and works fine. ON second start in worked
immediately
