I just purchased a new laptop and wanted to set up a network with my desktop
computer to get my files of off it without having to burn them all to a CD. I
have connected them together with an Ethernet crossover cable, but they stil
both say that there is "limited or no connectivity" between my computers. Any
help to fix this problem would be GREATLY appreciated.

Anthony,

This is not necessarily a problem. Find out the ip address of each computer -
"ipconfig", and ping each computer from the other. If you can ping each from
the other, then you're simply getting the message because they are connected to
a LAN (crossover cable) without a DHCP server.

I can ping my desktop from my laptop, but when I try to ping my laptop from
my desktop it loses all packets.
