Home Edition .. cannot copy C: to E: in whole or in part

The error message is that I can't backup or copy NTUSER, DEFAULT, PAGEFILE, etc., when trying to backup one hard drive to another. I get the error message in some cases when I copy one file or folder at a time. Is there a simple workaround? If not, what is the step-by-step procedure? Why can't I clone a hard drive in XP Home Edition?
 
To Clone a hard drive you need imaging software such as Drive Image by
Powerquest or True Image
by Acronis.
