hello i'd like to move hiberfil.sys from c:\ to a
different partition.

can i add a registry entry to move it?

thanks

The hibernation file is a Windows system file and must remain
on the same partition the Windows XP operating system is installed
on.

i can move the pagefile which is a system file though.

surely its a registry key somewhere?

Fred,
No, you can't change "hiberfil.sys" - it can either be there on the
"system" partition (the one NT OS's boot from) or you can disable
hibernation and it not be there at all. The reason is because
"hiberfil.sys" is read back into memory for session restoration even before
the "registry" is available.
