I've a few people here who have done the unspeakable. They've created a
project that goes down about 11 folder levels and have files that in
combination with folder names, exceed 255 characters (like 268).

Thus I can' t move/copy/rename, etc. the files or folders to get them back to
reality.

Anyone know what I can do (if anything)?

Much appreciated!

Create a fictitious directory, i.e. "junk" and copy and paste those files to it. There you can rename them by editing their properties. Then delete the "long" named ones and replace them with the new ones you created. Then delete the "Junk" directory.

Thanks for the reply... But I've tried that and it (XP) does not 'copy' the
files. So the pasting doesn't work. Nothing I've tried works (even tried
renaming a folder higher up). Nada.. :(
