hit counter

I'm building a website and I want to add a hit counter. I'm using
Front Page 2000. I'm inserting the hit counter through components/hit
counter and selecting a style. The {hit counter} shows up in the
normal mode, but the graphic with the counter does not show up in
either the preview mode or if I preview in the browser mode. Any help
would be appreciated as I'm a greenhorn in creating webpages.

Thre hit counter requires FrontPage extensions to function.
If you do not have IIS and extensions installed on your machine,
( or PWS for 9X ) the hit counters won't work.
When you publish to a server with FP Extensions, it will work.
