Have been hijacked and tried to remove this SOB but with
no success. I'm not sure if I deleted something or the
hijacker changed something as my desktop consists of
icons with the name of the program and next to each name
is an extention ".lnk" . The same for every program in
the program list in the "start, programs" process. Can
not run any program except "internet explorer".
Even in safe mode, the icons and programs have the .lnk
extention next to them.
Have I deleted some file and if so, which file? Running
XPpro.
Have Spy Sweeper and others on board but I'm not able to
run them, can not do a Restore or run any other program
due to the .lnk extention on each file.
I need to deal with this .lnk problem b/4 I can do
anything else, but don't know how to rectify this
problem. Any ideas?
Thanx in advance
Rick

Thanx Len, this problem involves my programs, not url's.
All my programs, exe files and everything has this
bloody .lnk extention behind it and Windows can not read
these files with that extention. Whether that hijacker
has applied the lnk process (in the url you posted) to my
programs, I'm not sure. Somehow, these need to change
back to what they were to be able to run.
Thanx anyway

Try Doug Knox's .exe file association fix:

http://www.dougknox.com/

Look under WinXP Fixes and then File Association Fixes.
