I have been trying to resolve the problem of my active window becoming
inactive. If I'm in (for example) Word within a couple of minutes the
window becomes inactive and the cursor disappears, but I cannot tell what has
become the active window. I have turned off advanced text services, run
Spybot, Norton Antivirus, installed TweakUI. I've diabled automatic windows
updates, Windows Messenger, Dell Alerts and any other auto updater I can
find. I have run Hijack This and don't know what the following are. I can
post the entire log if it will help.

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.0

According to others replies from similar posts, TweakUI helped
and this behavior occurred after installing XP-SP2. Others have claimed the
issue was between using an USB to PS2 adapter for keyboard/mouse. Others
claim it was due to Mail Pro (while writing messages, etc), BlueTooth and
wuauclt.exe to name a few.

If the latter: The MS one listed in your System32 folder checks
occasionally for new MS updates (depending on your options) the other one
could possibly be a virus, Troj/Cult-B, etc.

Also, I have seen this happen while a music shareware download program is
accessed by other users via the net/program. If this is the case, disable
your share folder.

Suggestions:

Run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot and HijackThis:

Note: Update each program, once installed, before running.
