The HighMAT website has some changes and a new version of the CD Writing Wizard is available for download.

That doesn't mean that DVD players that can play them are out. Looks like sometime next year per the first FAQ on the HighMAT site:

FAQ #1 - includes:

"And in the near future, easily share family movies on CD: Use software that supports HighMAT to create a home movie from the videos and still images you took on vacation, then save the result to a CD-R that you can easily play back on your laptop or other computer today, and on the DVD player that carries the HighMAT video logo, available in 2004."

In the meantime, I can create Videos on my PC, burn them to a CD and play
them on a DVD player that I bought in 1999, and share them with just about
everyone I know. If I buy a new DVD player in 2004, it won't be a $300
model that supports Microsofts private and proprietary format.
