Hello,

How can I hide specific files and folders on my machine from other users who
use my machine or at least prevent them from accessing the folders or
opening the files? I am using Windows XP Pro.

Kolin,

-right-click 'Start' & click 'Explore'

-click 'Tools' > 'Folder Options'

-under heading 'Hidden files & folders' check 'Do not show hidden files &
folders' > OK

-now right-click a folder you want to hide > 'Properties'

-check read only & hidden > OK > check 'apply changes to this folder,
subfolders & files

-click OK

Hi,

Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab, uncheck simple file sharing. Click
apply/ok. Now you should be able to access the security tab when you
right-click a folder and select properties (note: you must be using the ntfs
file system). On this tab, you can set access permissions for other user
accounts.

Hi Drew,

Yep I know about this, but this is too easy to get around. I think it's the
blocked access I need more.

Thanks though.
