hiding files and folders - freeware?

Trying to find any simple (free) program that will hide folders from the
kids to prevent damage. One that can perhaps be turned on/off with certain
keystrokes.
Have found several that only give a trial period.
Any help appreciated.

The one I use is no longer freeware, but there are 3 others I've found
but have never used
