Hiding duplicate information

How do I tell cell A1 on sheet 2, to look for similar text on sheet 1. Then
if there is similar text to change the text color in cell A1 cheet 2 to match
the background? I can't get this to work using vlookup?
 
You can't change colors with a simple worksheet formula. You can use
Conditional Formatting but you didn't give enough information to allow us to
show you how to use it in your specific case. I think you will find this

Here is some more detail:

This is for a Football draft. Sheet 1 titled "Rosters", has every managers
roster with each player shown on thir team in multiple columns. Sheet 2
titled "Players" has every player eligible to play in column A. Let's say
cell A1 on sheet 2 has Peyton Mannings name there. I want that cell to have
a formula (probably a vlookup formula) that searches all the columns on Sheet
1 for Peyton Mannings name. If Peyton Mannings name is listed on one of the
rosters on Sheet , I want his name on sheet 2 to match the background color.

I can do the formatting in conditional formatting to change the text color,
but I don't know how to create all the formulas involved?
