Hide/Unhide Sheets

I recently received a new XP machine at work. The old
machine was also XP so I don't know if this matters or
not. Anyway, when I open any Excel SS and choose to Hide
some of the worksheets, save, then close the file and re-
open it -- all of the hidden sheets reappear. This
happens to all of my Excel files that have hidden
worksheets in them. I have no idea why this is happening
on this new pc and not the old one. Any thoughts on
this? Thanks in advance.

I've never seen this. If you make some other change, like a cell entry, and
do your hide, save, close, etc., is the change there on reopening? (Just to
confirm you've opened the same workbook you closed).

Does the same thing happen if you run Excel in "safe mode"? (From
Start->Run enter "Excel.exe /s" (no quotes)).

All changes are there when I reopen the workbook. I
also mail this to other people via Outlook and they get
it with the worksheets hidden -- but not me. I tried
creating a dummy/test file since most of my workbooks are
pretty large, but even with just one line of junk the
sheet I hid, still opens up when I open the file.

Same results; all hidden pages appear when I open the
file. I am at a loss. I have looked on several other
Excel tip/help sites and no one has ever seen this.
