Hide columns

I am trying to hide two consecutive columns but get an error message saying
"Cannot shift objects off sheet". What does this mean/what is causing this?

The data in these two columns is no different than the data in the 20+
columns I have been able to successfully hide previously (in this same file).
 
I've seen this message when there are no free columns in the worksheet.
Check for rogue entries in column IV.
