Hidden Profiles?

Recently, I have been having problems where on startup, XP Professional keeps
creating a new profile. I'd like to "find" the old profile so I can see all
of my files. Any idea how I can go about this?

normaly the profiles are stored in %system%\Documents and Settings and
this folders should not be hidden.
