I am trying to view and use MP3 files i have on an
external buslink hard drive. A couple of years ago i got a
worm (I think it was the love bug) and i cleaned my
computer up and picked the folder option to view hidden
files. I changed the files back to non-hidden status and
moved them to an external hard drive. They usable and
vieable at this time. All of this was on windows98. I
converted to Windows xp a few months ago and have not been
able to view the majority of the mp3 files. The external
drive is FAT32. Do I need to convert it to the NTFS like
my XP is or does this matter? The only reason I would
question if it matters is because some files are viewable.
I know the other files are there because the folders
containing them are very large in size, but do not show
anything within them. If you move them from one folder to
another, you can see the names of the files moving, but
when they transfer they are still hidden. I tried show
hidden files with xp also.

Does anyone have a solution?

Easiest way:

Start / Run type in CMD <press enter>

type in

attrib <path> *.* -h <press enter>

That will take off the hidden attribute from all files in <path> (path
is drive:directory).
