Hidden Folders

I noted that some folders are not visible in Windows Explorer, i.e
C:\Users<profilename>AppData. Also, it appears registered file types do not
have their file extensions displayed. Is there a way to re-enable these
options?

In Windows Explorer hit the alt key to enable the menu bar. Go to Tools,
Folder Options, and click the View tab. Select "Show hidden files and
folders" and under that uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types.

Wow, that was painful! I've been searching the forums for half an hour to
figure out how to get to tools -> options.

Having to hit the alt key isn't intuitive at all - Why not make it behave
like WMP, where right-clicking the top bar brings up the File / Tools / Etc
menus?
