Hidden Columns and charts

I have a a chart with the data on the same sheet. When I hide the columns
that contain the data, the chart goes blank. Is this normal?

Sorry all,

I found the answer myself.....I needed to apply Show data in hidden rows and
columns.

Yes. Same if the chart is on another sheet. Hide some of the rows or some
of the columns, and the relevant data points are hidden from the chart.
