I understand you can use the following shortcut to enter hibernation:

windows key + U + H

When I try this though I get the Utility Manager pop up instead.

Any thoughts?

Unless you are referring to something by a different name, the "Utility
Manager" is not part of Windows. You apparently have some sort of
hotkeys program, possibly installed by the OEM (HP, Sony, etc.). Since
we know nothing about your computer or its keyboard (laptop, desktop,
multimedia keyboard), all I can suggest is that you see what you've got
installed and running.

please get your facts straight. what andrews is talking about is the windows
xp utility manager. try pressing the windows key + u if you have windows xp
it will come up with the utility manager.

andrew,
as i see it either you are not pressing the key combination after a delay in
between or hibernation is not enabled. although i'm not sure if the keys that
you just mentioned are used for hibernation or not.

Hope this helps

Hi Andrew,
You are close, and as Yogi intimated, too fast. Now with one finger,
press the windows key. See the start menu? Same finger, press u key.
See the Turn Computer Off screen? Wait for it, it may not be
instantaneous. Now, the two finger part... left hand ring finger on
Shift (notice Standby now becomes Hibernate). With the right middle
finger press h.
Cool,
Don't mind me, I'm just bored.

You may also want to check the properties of the shortcut to your
Utility Manager to make sure it hasn't hi-jacked the Windows Key U
combo as it's shortcut key

Hey, you be nice to her, she deserves it.

Try using caps where appropriate, too.

There is a Utility Manger in XP, hon, it shows up in Help and Support.

BTW, you never emailed me for a pic of my baby girl!
