Hibernation Problem in XP Pro

I am running XP pro on a Compaq Presario 2500 laptop.
512 Ram Pentium 4 processor.

When I try to go into Hibernation mode the light blue
screen that has the XP logo on it (not the blue screen of
death) comes up saying that it is prepring for
hibernation and then just sits there and sits there never
going into hibernation. I finally have to hold the power
button until the machine turns off and I have to do a
reboot.

Any suggestions?

Also, go to manufacturers website an see if they have
power management updates. There's something else I can't
remember about the hibernation feature, but I can't
remember it. If anyone else does...
