Hi,
For hibernate to show, hit the <shift> key while selecting shutdown, it
should replace the standby option.
If task manager fails to run when you hit ctrl+shift+escape, then you may
have a virus. Update your av software and run a full system scan. In the
meantime, as a workaround follow the steps for creating the emergency
utilities in the WinXP Utility section of
www.dougknox.com.
