if i leave stand by or hibernation on for anytime over a
few hours, then my computer restarts. how may i keep my
computer in hibernation or stand by for as long as i want?

Locate device manager from computer management. Then check properties of
each device, especially your network card, if you have one. From power
management page there is option to "allow this device to bring computer out
of standby". If that is checked and your network card receives certain
requests, you computer will restart if it is on standby or hibernation. At
least that was case when I was wondering why my work computer restarted even
if I had put it at hibernation.

All of my devices are working properly except for the
following devices that have no drivers installed for
them: Direct memory access controller, Intel(r) 82801AA
SMBus Controller, Motherboard resources, Numeric data
processor, Programmable interrupt controller, System
board, System speaker, and System timer.
