I recently purchased a USB 2.0 external enclosure and Liteon 811s
DVDRW drive, and have been getting an error for my drive when i plug
it in "A HI-SPEED USB device will function at reduced speed when
plugged into a non-HI SPEED port." and it goes on about how it have a
non-HI SPEED port, but i was pretty sure i did. The motherboard i am
using is a cheapo ECS k7s5a motherboard that does have USB 2 listed as
its feature, but when i look through the device manager i dont see any
mention of an "enhanced" usb device host or anything. so my question
is, how might i get my computer to use its USB 2.0 enhanced potential
if it has any?

thanks for all the help, it saves hours of my days.

Support for USB 2.0 needs XP SP1 - and there is a catch 22 in doing the
express install of that, in that as there are no USB 2 devices (look -
no drivers for them) then USB 2.0 drivers do not get installed. There
is a later update of the drivers - get a download of it and install
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;822603
and use 'Download. . .now' under 'More Information
