Can anyone tell me what function the $hf_mig$ directory serves? It is
located in C:\windows directory. It contains 6 sub-directories whose
names are the same as the 6 hot fixes found in add/remove programs.

In addition to this directory, C:\windows contains the 6 compressed
directories needed to uninstall the hot fixes.

System is Windows XP Home SP2.

Thanks.

You should not delete the $hf_mig$ directory.

The hf_mig directories are part of the hotfix migration and
multibranch support system, so you might need them in the future.

More about this here:

In addition to this directory, C:\windows contains the 6 compressed
directories needed to uninstall the hot fixes.

You can delete those if you are sure you will not have a need to
uninstall any of those updates in the future (e.g. if you suspect
one of them causing a problem).

It has information on 'migration' that would be used if you were to use
the remove on the hotfixes. I *think* so that possible adjustments
could be made to the other folder's but am not sure. If you are happy
you will not want to uninstall the fixes, delete the lot

Hi

Note that the $hf_mig$ folder has nothing to do with uninstalling
a hotfix, and the folder should not be deleted.
