I cannot get my Compaq to acknowledge my Hewlett Packard
ScanJet 5100C. Can you help? I already had someone
download a driver from Hewlett Packard, but their driver
still failed.
 
I have this device too, it does work but you need to follow the steps HP
outlines which is basically don't plug in the device until after the driver
is installed and hte PC isrebooted.

If you have an automatic CD SETUP.EXE, then it maybe ok, but you are
supposed to plug in the device and let the OS prompt you if it cannot find
the driver for it.
