Hi!

is there anyone who knows how to create a helpfile which can be used in a
Accessprogram?

I have read about it some time ago and I remember that I tryed to understand
how to do but I did´t get it. Is it possible to do it in MS Word and then to
"link" or what ever it´s called from a form and or control just by hitting
F1 key???

All help are apreciated!

Hi!

Firstly, it depends on the version of Access you are
running. 97 and prior used the old style help files based
on word documents, later versions use helpfiles based on
HTML.

How you create help will depend on the version you are
using.

Microsoft provides free tools to assist in creating
helpfiles for either 97 or pre versions or post 97
versions.

creating help files also:

Hi Dave!

I´m not finished with my db. far from actually. But I downloaded the program
"Help Development Studio" and tryed it out now this morning. I created a
small helpfile which I connected to a form in my db and also added ID-number
fot the topic to which the form belongs. And it worked...! :-)

Was I happy or not!!!

I know that I have a h... of lot of work in front of me but suddenly can I
make helpfiles which will make life easyer for the user. Thank´s a lot Dave!

By the way, is there any other helpfile compiler / program that you prefere.
I mean I havn´t tried any other than this and I don´t know if this is the
easyest/best to ues!?

Thanks again, you have "made my day"! :-)

Hi Niklas!

Have not done much as far as creating help files in HTML
as our organisation is still in the dark ages using Office
97!!

Had a look at "Help Development Studio" on the site I gave
you, but only saw a version in German so I can't really
comment. Did you get a version in another language?

Dave

Yes, ther was a version in english that I downloaded.

One thing which is good is that you can select in which language you will
create the helpfile in selecting a number of different language not only
swedish, like I´m using, and offcourse englis but also german, french,
spanish, portugese and so on.

It´s possible to create html-helpfiles but also winhelp-files so it might be
used even for an old office version as 97 ;-). And as far as I have seen
it´s the same software and the functionality is also the sam nomatter if you
are creating HTML helpfiles or Win helpfiles.

Bu the way, I think it´s quit easy to use so I think I´ll stick to it!

I'd suggest asking in the microsoft.public.help set of newsgroups.
