can't seem to figure out what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions.

Windows Mail is not the problem.

With port 465 you must use the SSL option, as clearly stated in
Yahoo's email setup instructions.

Thank you to Mac as I went thru that yahoo thing and I wasn't correct in my
set up. However, Gary, with port 465 as CLEARLY stated in the setup
instructions...I get the following message. Please tell me what I am doing
wrong this time. Thanks.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject

Apparently you are sending with a From address that has not
been verified with Yahoo.

The first time you go to that URL link referenced in the error message,
it sends you to a not very helpful page. Just copy and paste the
same link
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/manage/sendfrom-07.html
into the address bar again and it should take you to a more helpful page.

Hope that helps.

No such luck. I am now getting a message telling me that in order to send an
encrypted message, I must first obtain a ditgital ID for this account.

Did you inadvertently click on "Sign" on the toolbar?
If that prompt continues to appear when starting a new message,
go to Tools, Options, Security, and make sure you haven't checked
either of those last two boxes.

Did the address verification procedure with Yahoo seem to succeed?

That type of error is often caused by interference from a non-compatible
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running? As a minimum, email
scanning in the antivirus must be turned off. This often insufficient; in
many cases the AntiVirus application must be uninstalled, then re-installed
using the "Custom" option where the email scanning system can be prevented
from being installed. Email scanning is redundant, it does nothing but
create problems where none exist, and your system is still fully protected
without it, provided the resident file system scanner is kept up to date.

You're very welcome.

I assume you corrected "Secure(SSL): No" to "Secure(SSL): Yes".

Is yahoo.com your internet provider? If not, connections to port 25 on
their email servers probably won't work.
