need to know what pop3 is

Very quick Internet search. Does that help you?
Bob F.

"- POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3) is the most recent version of a standard
protocol for receiving e-mail. POP3 is a client/server protocol in which
e-mail is received and held for you by your Internet server. Periodically,
you (or your client e-mail receiver) check your mail-box on the server and
download any mail, probably using POP3. This standard protocol is built into
most popular e-mail products, such as Eudora and Outlook Express. It's also
built into the Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers. "

Let's see. You have Internet connectivity through a Verizon mobile card,
and you have a Yahoo email address. Is that your only email address?
If your Yahoo account is one of the free US-based ones, it doesn't
have POP access, meaning Windows Mail can't communicate with it.

There are some workarounds, but they are not trivial to implement.
One solution would be to upgrade to a paid Yahoo account since that
will make Yahoo accessible with a POP email client like Windows Mail:

Another solution is a third party add-on: http://ypopsemail.com/
However, we can't provide support for third party programs.

If you are not too attached to that Yahoo email address, you can get a
free Gmail account which will work with Windows Mail.
