A new problem. I have a high speed cable connection that
works fine. I can check email and brouse the internet.
But... whenever I need to do something like log into
yahoo, download an update, or run an autoupdate for my
virus programs, windows cannot seem to realize or detect
that I am already online. I keep getting error messages
that states I cannot connect to the remote server or the
communication has failed, unable to update virus
definitions... all due to the fact that I am not
connected to the internet.. but I am. I am not using a
proxy server and that is not an issue even though it is
suggested. It must be a setting somewhere. Can anyone
help?

Steve

Do you have a firewall installed? This sounds like a firewall issue. If
you do have a firewall installed, try disabling it and see if you can get
in. If you can, it is likely you are blocking something necessary to access
those sites.
