Can anyone list all the protection Windows XP has in order not to allow a
good instalation on the machine? Preventing from registering components?
Not overwriting files (of the same name and date/version).

I'm having problems installing one of our programs on a particular machine,
which
is not the case on other Windows XP machines.

We are using administrative priviledges, shut off ant antivirus, etc.

Thank you,
Rick.

Newbie In Hell,

What are the errors you are getting & what is the application you are
attempting to install?

Providing you have turned off the virus software & if you have XP SP 2 then
the Windows firewall can be turned off too. I don't see why you need to
disable these anyway.

No, there is no way to list "all the protection". You will need to look
at both machines and determine what is different. Only someone actually
seeing the computers will be able to do that. I have two other suggestions:

1. Contact the tech support for whatever program is giving you
difficulties and see what they say.

2. Try to install your program in Safe Mode. It isn't possible to
install all programs in Safe Mode, but it's worth a try.
