Hi Chrissy,
You mention having "mot everything: on backup disks. Just make sure that
includes all important data.
Next, you need to locate the CD which came with your computer called
<something like> 'System Recovery Disk' or 'System Restore Disk'. The CD
will have the label of your OEM (Dell, HP, Compaq, Toshiba, Whatever) and
may also say <something like> 'use this disk to restore your system to the
factory default settings'.
If you locate this disk and have all your data backed up, boot your system
with this disk in the CD-ROM drive. If you are prompted to 'press a key to
boot from CD', press whatever key is required. When the CD menu comes up,
follow the prompts.
If you have any questions about specific steps within the CCD menu, you
will need to call your PC Vendor's support line.
Once you have restored your system to factory defaults, you will probably
need to reactivate Windows, download all critical updates from the web and
update your AV definitions.

| i am trying to clear out everything on my computer and
| start from scratch i was told to do a system recovery
| where i would have to use my recovery discs to re do
| everything. i don't know where to start. i already have
| most everythin on backup discs. where do i start? any
