I posted a couple of messages on the newsgroups and now I
am receiving literally hundreds of microsoft patch E-Mails
(they are not viruses, but bothersome E-Mails.)

Why did I start to receive these when I started using the
MS Newsgroups?

How do I get rid of them?

First of all, they are viruses, it's a worm called swen so don't click in
the email. You can use a fake email address, use an email provider with good
filtering.
Just delete them, for future use a filter that deletes emails larger than a
certain size..

I wonder why I ran the virus program and it did not find
it?

I have been deleting them (without opening them.) I even
had my It look at it. They said it was not a virus.

So if my virus scan can't find it, how do I get rid of
these?

They are viruses and you received them because you used a
valid email address in the return address of your posts.
Software address harvesters comb newsgroup posts for
addressees and compile lists for spammers and other
unscrupulous jerks.
