Running XP +SP2

I recently ran across a Knowledge Base article that described a
problem a friend is having. He has a 8120B CD drive capable of
recording but if he checks its properties there is no "Recording"
tab. I've been able to get him to actually write a folder to the CD
using the basic version of Easy CD
Creator 5 that comes with XP so I know the drive is capable of
recording.

Somehow I found a Knowledge Base article that outlined Registry
changes I could make to correct this problem. Unfortunately a saved
neither the article or the link to it. Currently my searching has not
been able to retrieve that article again. If anyone can direct me to
it I would appreciate it.

Have you installed SP2? If so look at the following:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;883523

This is a problem with SP2. "imap" from SP2 has a fault in it. No
recording to a new CD-R or CD-RW because it is shown as full. Microsoft is
aware of the problem.
